Raised in rural Iowa, the daughter of a wildlife artist, Athea loved the outdoors and exploring artistic mediums. She was always drawn to photography.

From watching her father pull over on a gravel backroad to photograph a perfect sunset or analyzing the fashion photography in teen magazines to documenting all her friends escapades in high school on a point-in-shoot… Athea loved the magic of photography to capture a moment, preserving it forever.

After moving to Atlanta to develop and hone her talents in art school, Athea focused on allegorical portraiture. She conceptualizes the idea for each image, spending hours hunting second-hand shops for props and costuming, searching for the perfect location before each image was even captured digitally. After the photoshoot, countless hours are spent in Photoshop giving each photograph the dream-like feel her work is known for.

Athea has won multiple awards for her photography including Best of Photography at the Atlanta Arts Festival and publication in Photographer’s Forum Magazine: Best of Photography.
